“I never realised it could be so much fun”

1st Lindfield is an entirely voluntary organization, run by parents and other partners in our local community.  We rely on the commitment and enthusiasm of those who give up their time regularly, without whom we would not be able to offer Scouting activities to so many of our young people.

Parents are asked to help out in Beaver and Cub meetings once each term and are invaluable to the running of these sections on a weekly basis.  Most of our parent helpers comment on how much they enjoy the experience, and many are able to help out with other events, such as overnight camps, or our regular fundraising.

Some are able to give more of their time and volunteer to become leaders.  As well as gaining externally recognised skills and having a brilliant time, Scouting also offers the chance to build on personal skills, such as teamwork, confidence and leadership.  The Scouting movement offers full training and for many the fun and experience they have in supporting our young people as part of a team go beyond scouting to impact their working lives and careers.  You can find out more about this on the Scout website.

But these are not the only ways in which you can be involved.  Perhaps you have first aid knowledge that you could teach the group?  Maybe you could teach our Scouts a thing or two about DIY or running cooking sessions with our young people?  Everyone has a skill and we can make use of it.

If you would like to know more about the opportunities available, we’d love to hear from you.  Speak to a leader, or contact us to explore the many ways in which you could be part of this.
