Scout Leaders

We have a fantastic troop of Scout Leaders. Always 'prepared' and ready to provide a great programme of adventures for the Young People in Scouts. All of our Leader's are parents of our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts who have taken on the Scout Leader role, trained through the Scout Association, first-aid trained and DBS checked.  Find out more about them below…


Claire Stone (Assistant Scout Leader, Trafalgar (Tuesday) - "Baloo"):Claire is a solicitor and works for a local firm of solicitors.   Claire originally joined the Executive Committee to "help out" on the property side of things, but was cajoled into being  the joint-Chair.  When she got a job locally and a couple of other leaders were leaving, she was further cajoled into "helping out" on a Friday night at Cubs.  She became ACSL in March 2015 and got her wood badge (ie did her training) in May 2016.   "I love the challenges that each week brings, no week is ever the same and I really enjoy being able to watch the scouts grow and develop over their time with us.  One of my favourite things is going to camp, as the young people love it.  They have permanent smiles on their 

Phil Kelly (Scout Leader, Trafalgar Troop): Phil runs his own business project managing repair work for insurance claims. He lives in Lindfield with his wife, Sarah and his two children, one of whom is in 1st Lindfield Cubs. Having been a Cub and then a Scout himself, Phil was keen to get involved again and joined the 1st Lindfield Scout group in 2013. He completed his assistant leader training whilst helping out at Beavers, continued onto Cubs for a couple of years and he now helps to lead the Scouts, a true mutlitasker! Phil likes most sports and regularly plays football and hockey.

Simon Fitzpatrick (Scout Leader, Trafalgar Troop): Simon runs his own architectural design business helping clients to extend their homes. He lives in Haywards Heath with his wife and son, who attends 1st Lindfield Cubs. Simon was in the Air Training Corps as a teenager where he completed the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. He holds the Level 1 FA Coaching Licence and assisted with the running of the local youth football team. He is keen to use his air cadet and football coaching experience within the Scouting Group and joined the 1st Lindfield Scout group in Sept 2014. Simon enjoys playing most outdoor sports including football, golf, cycling, snowboarding and orienteering.

Guy McClelland (Scout Leader, Trafalgar Troop): Guy joined 1st Lindfield as an Assistant Leader with Trafalgar Scout Troop late in 2015, after many years working abroad.   He was previously a Beaver colony Leader in London many years ago but decided to become a Scout leader when he returned to the UK, as he loved being a Cub and Scout when he was younger and wantsother children and young adults to have the same opportunities. He lives locally with his wife and son, and travels up to work each day on the train in his role as an HR Manager for a maritime engineering consultancy based in London.  His interests are Scuba diving, Motorbikes and Chelsea and he loves talking about them if given the chance!
